Produktinformationen
What age are NEMO BOARDS® suitable for?
The smaller kids' skateboards from NEMO BOARDS® are specifically designed for children aged approximately 3 to 12 years. Their size and riding characteristics are tailored to help kids ride safely and with lots of fun. At the same time, our boards are made from high-quality materials, making them sturdy enough to be used by adults as well. The larger cruiser skateboards from NEMO BOARDS® are suitable for all age groups.
What is Cork Softgrip®, and why is it ideal for kids' skateboards?
Cork Softgrip® is a soft alternative to traditional grip tape, made from natural cork material. This special grip surface protects knees and clothing if kids kneel on the board while riding. At the same time, it provides sufficient traction for safe skateboarding.
What are Bambooly® decks, and how are they made from bamboo and maple wood?
Our Bambooly® decks combine bamboo and maple wood, making them exceptionally sturdy and durable. Bamboo is a rapidly renewable resource that, when paired with maple, provides excellent stability. The slightly deeper concave ensures a responsive and comfortable ride.
How does the One-Board-One-Tree program work?
For every NEMO BOARD® you purchase in our online shop, we plant a tree to contribute to reforestation. Since our boards are made of wood, this initiative helps ensure we give something back to nature.
Skateboard Care
What can I do to make my skateboard last longer?
Keep your skateboard dry to extend its lifespan. Wet surfaces are slippery and should be avoided! If it’s raining, look for a dry place to skate. Sand can get into the moving parts of the trucks and bearings, reducing their lifespan and affecting the trucks' mobility. To prevent this, avoid riding your skateboard through sand.
How do you clean the Softgrip® material?
The cork surface, wheels, and underside of the skateboard deck can be best cleaned with standard cleaning wipes. After cleaning, the wood and cork surfaces should be dabbed dry to prevent moisture from seeping into the pressed layers of the skateboard deck. A dry cloth works well for this.
How do I protect the skateboard from weather and wear?
Store your skateboard in a dry place inside your home to prevent moisture damage. Don't ride your skateboard in the rain.
Skateboarding Tips
Wie können Kinder anfangen zu skaten?
- Position your front foot: Place your front foot near the front bolts that attach the front truck to the board.
- Bend your front knee: Bend your front knee so your back foot can reach the ground.
- Push off with your back foot: While keeping your weight on your front foot, push off with your back foot. The push should be slightly angled backward. Maintain your balance with your front leg.
- Place your back foot back on the board: After pushing off, place your back foot near the rear bolts.
How do you find your preferred foot position?
Which foot goes in front, and which foot pushes? A simple way to find out your preferred stance is the sliding test. Imagine sliding on a smooth floor with socks or on ice. Which foot do you instinctively place in front? This gives you a good clue about your natural stance. However, it’s important to try both stances and see which one feels more comfortable for you.
- Regular: Left foot in front.
- Goofy: Right foot in front.
What safety gear is recommended for kids when skateboarding?
Before starting to skate, make sure to wear a properly fitted helmet and a good set of protective gear. This way, falls won’t stop you from continuing to learn. In our shop, you’ll find everything you need for safe skateboarding.
What type of terrain is best for skateboarding?
- Smooth sidewalks or bike paths: Perfect for beginners. New city parks often feature well-maintained concrete paths with plenty of space to practice. Look for a traffic-free area where you have lots of room. Larger open spaces are ideal for mastering pushing and steering your board.
- Skateparks: These can be crowded and intimidating for beginners. Practice the basics first before heading to a skatepark. If a skatepark is your only option, find a quiet corner or practice during off-peak times. Always be mindful of your surroundings and show respect to others.
